As my little girl is just about to turn 3 months, I realized I never showed off Navy's nursery! And seeing as I basically had it looking how it does in the photos below since about two days after I found out she was a girl, I have no idea why it took me so long to snap pics!
Let's start with the {obvious} theme of the room... you guessed it, nautical! ;P The girl's name is Navy, I couldn't have monkeys bouncing all around her! Here is a view of her crib and three darling nautical prints I designed as the focal point of the room {and now offer in my Etsy Shop for instant download!}.
You better believe those walls are straight-up-bubble-gum-pink! I had a lot of Finley's hand-me-down nursery items, like his blue sailboat mobile, so I thought I really had to "girly" up the walls to offset a lot of the navy going in!
My mom found these perfect, navy-striped, wooden boats at Goodwill {I think for $2.99 each!} and picked up 3 of them! I have a very nautical-loving family, so had to spread the wealth, but kept one for little miss Navy's nursery. I love how it feels like Noah's ark with all of her stuffed animals displayed inside! The adorable I am a Child of God print was a gift from a wonderful friend!
I love all the little details throughout the nursery. Two of my favorites are this hand-made bright pink crown and custom embroidery hoop wall art! The friend who made the nautical embroidered hoop had originally gifted it to me, long before I even had babies! But, I think it's perfect in miss N's nursery!
The wooden dresser and mirror has been mine since I was a little girl! It feels so special to see it in my little girl's room now. It is such a gorgeous piece and I contemplate all the time having my sis-in-law get her hands on it, but then I see the curling iron burns from my old high school days and I just cant let go of that history! But, man, wouldn't it be cute in navy blue!
Navy's room has this adorable built in bookshelf in the corner of her room. This "character" piece is what drew me to my house to begin with! :) {But I guess, that's another post!} It is filled with books and other fun decor, and a set of letters that I plan on painting at some point!

Okay, so I can't have a "Fridays with Fin" without mentioning the little guy, can I? You may remember last week I was terrified of jinxing my potty trained boy, and to be honest there was some slight jinx-age! But, we're ending today on a good note, so I'm not going to dwell! Here's a few pics of my tactics to get that boy to just let it out!!
We recently received a hammock as an anniversary gift from my parents ... We ALL {I'm talking even the neighbors} LOVE it! Fin thinks it's number ONE...
The best part about this hanging canvas {besides how ridiculously cute it looks and comfy it feels} is that our little busy boy actually CHILLS in it!
He will lay with us for very long periods of time {okay, like 10 minutes}, puts his arms back and enjoy the view {especially if there's an airplane above}!
But mommy and Fin... we just like to show off our muscles while swinging! ;) Happy Weekend!
Remember when I was boasting about my amazing new dining table and mentioned that all I could think about was how to spruce up the top of it? Well, in the past week, two gorgeous pieces randomly found their way to me!
First, I received this beautiful pottery barn vase from my SIL for helping with her wedding paper designs. Thank you Emily & Aaron... can't wait for the wedding this weekend and to share some of those designs with all of y'all soon! And then, kind of an interesting story about how I received the burlap runner... I got an order for a custom label to match my camping party invites and the name of the customer sounded familiar. So, being the nosy gal I am, I clicked on her etsy profile and linked to her shop on etsy! And what do you know, I happened to already have one of her burlap runners starred as one of my "favorites"! So, I mentioned to her how much I loved her runners and we decided to do a trade! I design her labels and she send me a runner... Deal!

So, I'm working on a little project the other day... a completely "nellie-esque" no-sew, ghetto project that I'll touch upon later ... but as I'm working, I discovered Finley's fake smile!
Normal Finny on the left... but say the magic word "smile" and this is what results, on the right! I want to squeeze him and pinch him and nibble on him! Now all I do is say smile all the time so I can get that face!
And now, here's my little project, that Finley so wonderfully helped me out with... Let me start by saying, I live in an old house that has very limited closet space. My husband and I share a 2'x4' closet. We're bursting at the seams here. So, being the amazingly domestic woman that I am {bahaha} I busted out the "stitch witchery", the iron, scissors and some cute material!
And here's what this domestic diva ended up with...
A faux closet! We're loving the extra space and especially loving that we're sticking to our truly classy selves! ;P
First, like many of you out there, I am lovin' on pinterest! I don't love it as much as some of you, who have like 6.8 million pins, but I like it! ;) And second, as most of you know by now, I like nautical things. Well, I swear I didn't use pinterest as my own personal gift registry, but I "pinned" something ... and like a day later ... got it as a gift! How cool is that, and how cute is this print...

Okay, bear with me, but now that I'm a "blogger" {haha, don't know why I chuckle saying that} I can SO see how you live your life all the time thinking, "oh, I should totally blog about that!" So, to all my peeps out there, hope you don't mind a little "non-design" post to hear me brag blog about the awesome new table we got for our dining room!
So, when we first moved into our quaint "english cottage" home, it was a HOT MESS, to say the least! The top pic above, we snapped when walking through the home before we owned it. Dirty carpet and junk everywhere. We moved in, ripped out all the carpeting and cleaned and painted everything in sight! The bottom pics above show the progress after we moved in. The pic to the left shows my husband's grandpa's {very vintage} kitchen table that we just "covered up" to make do. Then we painted and stained that table {pic to the right} and my "vision" was becoming more real! But the fact was, it was a kitchen table and kinda small. So, we always just knew we ultimately wanted a new table, but didn't set out to find one {budgetary reasons}!
Well, like they say with finding your husband... he pops up when you least expect him to... that's what happened with finding our new dining table!
Isn't he handsome. A friend of mine, whose style I've always admired, posted on her facebook page that her dining set was up for sale! I was the first on the scene! If I were to go to a store to pick a table, this would be the one I would pick, so to have it pop up like this, and at a "hand-me-down-price", I knew I had to jump at this moment!
Funny thing is, I wasn't even thinking about doing more to the dining room for a while {have SO many more demanding projects in the house} and now that I've got this new gem, all I've been thinking about are DIY centerpiece ideas and finding a cool square rug for underneath! So, I'm sure my budget-savvy hubby is hearing "cha-chings" in his head just thinking about the snowball-effect of buying this new table!
